Severe Weather March 2007
3/1/2007 04:30 PM

A significant severe weather outbreak is possible as the environment becomes conducive for severe weather this afternoon and tonight. The National Weather Service and Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has identified all of Southeast Georgia as a “Moderate Risk” for severe weather. Chatham County will most likely be placed into a Tornado Watch sometime this evening.

The greatest threat for severe weather is predicted to occur between 9:00 PM tonight through 6:00 AM tomorrow morning. During this period, damaging winds, isolated tornadoes and large hail are possible. As the greatest threat for tornadoes exists after dark, this constitutes an especially dangerous severe weather situation.

Should a Tornado Warning be issued for your area, stay away from windows and seek shelter in a lower level interior room or hallway of your home until the threat passes.

All residents are encouraged to monitor TV and radio for updates.
