Staff DUSTIN HETZEL
Dustin Hetzel is an Emergency Management Specialist for Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA). For the past three years he has been involved in the technical side of CEMA's Operations. He is a Georgia Certified Emergency Manager.
His daily duties are to ensure the Emergency Operations Centers are ready to operate at a moments notice. He coordinates with local governmental, public and private data and communication agencies, to ensure that the Emergency Support Function 2 (ESF-2) is
ready for any man-made or natural disaster to affect Chatham County. Dustin also oversees the Emergency Warning Siren System (Tornado Warning Sirens) ensuring that people engaged in outdoor activities will be adequately warned if there is an emergency occurring or about to occur in Chatham County.
Prior to his hiring at CEMA, he worked approximately five years as a computer technician for Chatham County ICS where his duties covered troubleshooting & fixing PCs, Servers and Networks. He also served as the Data Backup Administrator as well as a backup to ICS's Telecommunications Administrator. During this time, Dustin worked in the EOC as a computer technician for many events including the G8. Finally, Dustin has been volunteering during the Elections for the last eight years as a Poll Technician. Some of the duties he performs during the Election are to manage the nine polling sites across the County that are assigned to him so that the sites work seamlessly during the elections as well as troubleshoot and fix the voting equipment.
Dustin has his Associates Degree in Networking from West Georgia Technical College. He currently holds a Technician's License in Amateur Radio and is studying for his General Class License. Dustin recently had training with the United States Coast Guard that will allow him to work any Type II incident as an Operations & Planning Section Chief.
