Hot Topic CEMA TO HOLD FREE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS RESPONSE TRAINING
On October 20th and 21st at 6:30 PM, the Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) will offer FREE hazardous materials response training to all members of the public and media at the Coastal Georgia Center and the Frank G. Murray Community Center respectively.
The training will assist residents in preparing, responding and recovering from the effects of a hazardous materials spill or release. In addition, residents will learn about Chatham County's Hazardous Materials Plan as well as precautions that residents may take to ensure their safety and the safety of their families.
"Chatham County residents should prepare now for any type of hazardous materials spill within their community," stated Clayton Scott, Director of CEMA. "By participating in this training, residents will have an understanding of the role they play if and when there is ever a release of hazardous materials into the community."
Topics to be covered in the training include family preparedness actions, community resource surveys, emergency reporting, hazardous materials response, evacuation and sheltering-in-place.
