Tornado Drill Wednesday Morning
Savannah, GA
February 1st – 5th is Georgia’s Severe Weather Awareness Week. Severe
weather may strike with only a few minutes of advance warning. Do you or
your workplace have a way to receive a severe weather warning and will
the response to the warning be effective? This annual tornado drill
gives everyone the opportunity to test their tornado emergency
procedures. Here are the details...
• At approximately 9:10 AM EST on Wednesday, February 3rd, the National
Weather Service forecast offices serving Georgia will transmit a
practice tornado warning.
• This warning will be transmitted through NOAA Weather Radio.
• The test warning will be issued for all 159 counties of Georgia.
• Your local radio and TV stations will also relay this warning in your
area through the Emergency Alert System (EAS).
• CEMA will activate their Emergency Warning Siren System.
• The practice tornado warning will expire at 9:30 AM EST.
• There will be NO test Watch issued prior to the Warning, and NO
all-clear message issued after it.
• In the event of inclement weather in the state on February 3rd, the
drill will be conducted on Friday, February 5th at the same time
(weather permitting).
Note, because NOAA Weather Radio transmitters overlap their broadcast
coverage, some counties may receive multiple test alerts.
