Chatham County Under a Winter Storm WATCH Beginning Friday Afternoon
Savannah, GA 
 
 
The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a Winter Storm WATCH for Inland and Coastal Chatham County which will remain in effect from Friday afternoon through late Saturday morning.
 
A Winter Storm WATCH means there is a potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulation that may impact travel.  Chatham County residents should continue to monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared for possible warning advisories from the National Weather Service in Charleston.   
 
Beginning Friday afternoon, rain will begin to fall across the area eventually changing to snow late Friday afternoon or early Friday evening.  Snow may fall moderately at times with total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches with locally higher amounts inland from the coast.
 
Chatham County residents are advised to use caution when traveling as roadways may be slick with ice, especially black ice which is difficult to see.  Be especially vigilant if traveling over bridges and overpasses.
