Preparedness ESSAY CONTEST FOR CHATHAM COUNTY 5TH GRADERS

One of the Chatham Emergency Management Agency's (CEMA) goals is to educate residents and make sure they are prepared should they ever face a disaster.  CEMA targets the entire Chatham County population, including children.  We feel that children are often the most eager to learn and can find creative ways to get prepared.

This year during Severe Weather Awareness Week, CEMA is encouraging Chatham County schools to become involved by participating in an essay contest.  The contest will be open to all 5th graders in Chatham County and must address why it's important to plan for severe weather.  Students should share ways they will prepare for severe weather.  Essays must be mailed to the CEMA office no later than February 6th or they can be dropped off.  WJCL will invite the winner of the essay contest to appear on Good Morning Savannah with Meteorologist Jonathan Myers on Friday, February 10th to serve as a guest weather forecaster.
