CCOAD Committee Management

Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for CCOAD-Logo.gifThe coordination and assistance committees are the mainstay of CCOAD.

By having an active outreach in the community, each functional committee is able to identify and compile emergency information on local businesses such as leadership contacts, types of service and/or equipment available for emergency use and emergency contact methods. In many cases, the organizations we are looking for are small or businesses whose capabilities are unknown to emergency management authorities.

In a disaster, the Chatham County Emergency Management Agency (or other municipal jurisdiction) may identify a void in its response to an emergency need. The CEMA director or staff (normally through emergency operations center) will contact CCOAD and request assistance in fulfilling that need.

The CCOAD leadership will identify the most appropriate committee that can handle that request, contact the committee facilitator and request that the committee respond to the request.

The committee facilitator will canvass the committee membership to determine what and where services and/or equipment are present for response, and who has the capability to activate those needs to assist the emergency operation.

The committee facilitator will reply back to the requesting authority, report the committee's solution, and work with that authority to ensure the best possible response to solve that need.

Currently, there are twenty-six functional areas that are in need of CCOAD committee partners.
