CCOAD Core Values

Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for CCOAD-Logo.gifWhat we ask of you is to provide your community with your knowledge and expertise. We feel that you, as a volunteer partner, will strengthen our community response to disasters through working together with other members. The quicker we respond in partnership, the quicker we can get our affected communities back on their feet. We do this through:

•    COOPERATION:   As no organization has all the information in disaster response, we depend on active information response. We work as equal partners in this regard.

•    COMMUNICATION:   We share our capabilities, accomplishments, and commitments with other partners prior to, during and after disasters to strengthen our organizational response capabilities. We stress open channels of communication between partners so that concerns can be discussed and appropriate, responsive decisions can be made.

•    COORDINATION:   We work together during disasters, not in competition. We use our collective expertise to respond to solving un-met needs identified by our emergency management organizations and governmental entities.

•    COLLABORATION:   Our participating organizations work together to achieve specific goals and voluntarily undertake specific projects during each phase of a disaster.

•    EDUCATION AND MEMBERSHIP GROWTH:   We educate our workers, our partners, our volunteers and our communities in disaster mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery measures and strategies.

We develop synergies by implementing our partnership core values. When a disaster occurs, we cannot succeed if we respond as individual organizations. Working together, we speed up community recovery.
