CCOAD Mission

Thumbnail image for CCOAD-Logo.gifCCOAD is a group of community organizations comprised of private for-profit and non-profit businesses, faith-based communities, and public agencies that have voluntarily come together to:

•    strengthen community-wide disaster coordination in the Chatham County area by sharing information and identifying resources, and to

•    simplify disaster-related resident access to available services in an effort to help satisfy the unmet needs of the community following a disaster.

We, as an organization, react to emergency related requests from the Chatham Emergency Management Agency, the governments of Bloomingdale, Garden City, Pooler, Port Wentworth, Savannah, Thunderbolt, Tybee Island, or other emergency services when they do not have the needed information or assets to manage their disaster response requirements.

We meet our mission through our functional coordination and assistance committees. These committees are composed of volunteer leaders like you, who, working together, provide the community expertise and knowledge to identify how and where those requirements can be found and met.

The Chatham County Siren System

The Chatham Emergency Management Agency conducts monthly tests of our emergency warning sirens on the first Wednesday of each month at 12 noon. If you hear a siren at any other time, it means take cover! Read more about our warning siren program.
