New Text Message System- Sign Up for CEMA Alerts NOW!
You may have noticed that CEMA's Twitter text message alerts are no longer working on your phone. Twitter recently changed their consent policies and the fast follow text message feature is no longer supported.
No need to worry, though, CEMA has a new system in place that will allow you to receive text messages OR emails during severe weather including advisories, watches, warnings and special weather statements. Residents will also be notified for major road closures and other emergency events in our area. You can now sign up for CEMA Alerts in the Community Notification System.
Registering for alerts is very simple. To begin, you will need to visit the front page of our website. Once there, you can click on the text message icon. You will find the Swift911 Portal. If you are already registered, you can sign in. If you do not already have an account, simply click, Register Now!
Fill in the information requested. Use an email address that you can easily access. Also, please note that you will need a capital letter, a number and a special character for your password.
When you enter your address, don't forget to validate it- some alerts can be sent to areas surrounding the addresses that you register.
Once all required fields are complete, click submit registration. You will now need to verify your email address. Log into your email and look for your four digit verification code; it could take a few minutes. Type your verification code in the box and you are set to go!
You have officially created your own account! You will automatically be added to the residential master list for the County. Now, you will want to add a subscription to be added to CEMA Alert. Click on add subscriptions and select 1 CEMA Alert- it should be the first option on the drop down list. Feel free to take a few minutes to see if there are other lists that you would like to be added to. When you are done, scroll all the way down to the bottom and click add selected.
You can easily update your contact information and even add members of your household to the Community Notification System.
You have successfully registered for CEMA Alerts. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact our office at 912-201-4500
