About
Megan Barnes
Megan Barnes is an Emergency Management Specialist focused on Logistics and Operational Readiness. Her passion for Emergency Management sparked during her term of service with AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps. While working with four different nonprofit organizations in the Southwestern United States, she contributed to home reconstruction projects, community safety initiatives, as well as emergency response efforts with the American Red Cross in Shawnee, Oklahoma, after a tornado.
Following this experience, she served as a Site Volunteer Supervisor at Habitat for Humanity in Wilmington, North Carolina. In this role, she engaged teams of volunteers, fostered community collaboration, and facilitated successful home builds for program applicants. During this time, she decided to go back to school and ultimately graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Emergency and Disaster Management as a distance student from Western Carolina University.
In her free time, Megan enjoys running, reading, writing, and playing music. She is wholeheartedly dedicated to advancing CEMA’s mission of promoting community resilience.
