Rowan Atwell

In February 2024, Rowan joined the Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) and assumed the role of Emergency Management Specialist within the Community Planning Division. Rowan is initially from South Florida but has spent time in Pittsburgh, PA and Washington, D.C as well.

Rowan's educational background includes a bachelor's degree in International Relations from Duquesne University and a Master's in Homeland Security as well as certificates in Emergency Management and Intelligence Analysis from Tulane University. During the COVID-19 pandemic Rowan got her start in Emergency Management working for Port St. Lucie Emergency Management where she reported the county COVID-19 numbers back to the state as well as helping the city organize, set-up, and maintain their vaccination clinics. Rowan was also a Mass Care volunteer for the American Red Cross and was deployed to do damage assessment reports in the aftermath of Hurricane Delta.

In her free time, Rowan likes to read, box, and spend time with friends and family. She also enjoys traveling and has a goal to hit all the continents at least once.
